Acrylic (metallic gold) on vintage paper (old family photo album from the 1970's)
47 x 34 cm
Ganesha is standing on a Trishula background, painting in acrylic gold, which gives it a metallic shine depending on the angle the painting is viewed at. Ganesha is painted using gall wasp ink (natural black ink produced by a specific species of wasps). The trishula is the trident carried by Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and creation. It is said to have been used to sever the original head of Ganesha and symbolizes will, action and knowledge, as well as the power to destroy evil and ignorance.
